Saturday, May 5, 2007 - More forward and pleasing than its big brother Leo Barton right now. Slightly reductive nose of dark berry, woodland, and pine needle nose. Palate of red and black berries, licorice, leather, forest floor and pine sap (very strong). Tastes like one is drinking a pine forest--very strong terroir notes. Very chewy, crunchy, granular tannins. Streamline (like many 2004 SJs), low glycerine, low structure, but with alot of depth, concentration and power. Alcohol is already being absorbed by the fruit, which has a nice density. Pleasure to roll this wine in the mouth even at this young age. Long. Up there with the three Leos in this year.
