2004 Château Langoa Barton

92 Points

Sunday, May 19, 2019 - Deep opaque plum colour; with lifted nose of earth, wood and dark fruit; flavours of cassis and blackberry, a little light perhaps, but woven into a good mouthfeel that has longeur. Not a deep or complex wine, but very attractive. A brooding wine with pleasant murky depths.
It is probably at its best now (there is just a hint of acidity around its edges suggesting that it may turn it soon). The wine did, however, hold its shape well, even after almost three hours in the decanter, in fact, so well, that I must upgrade my original score of 91 to 92. It might continue to improve, but in my experience wine goes down faster than it comes up.
