90 Points

Monday, March 18, 2013 - Have been drinking a glass or two of this wine for a few days now. Initially started out a bit hot and jammy. TN is from 3 days opened and recorked in cellar conditions.
Clear, deep ruby core, fading to a med ruby rim. The tears stain the sides of the glass, showing new world heat and extraction.
The nose is clean and pleasant, showing early developing aromas that are medium in intensity, including black cherry pit, moist earth, licorice, ripe plum, and stem or vegetal quality; the fruit is now a back seat driver of this terroir-driven nose.
On the palate, this wine is dry, full body and med(+) alcohol (listed at 14.9%). I can say that the alcohol is a bit more integrated on the 3rd day open, as it was a bit distracting initially on day one. The flavors are medium in intensity, showing off plum and black cherry flavors, intermixed with beautifully integrated earthy notes which add depth and complexity. The acidity is med level and matches well with the fruit and earthy flavors, bolstered by med level, dusty and rounded tannins that are already eased to the point of nice drinkability. The finish is med-length, lasting 30 secs with pleasing dark fruit and gravel notes.
This is a high quality wine, drinking nicely already, but will continue to improve another 3-5 years, and drink well for 10 years thereafter.
