Saturday, April 23, 2016 - Light straw-gold colour. Nose is grapefruit, lifted lanolin, perfumed lillies, white and yellow peaches. Palate is nicely plump white and yellow peaches, white pear, peach stone, almonds, bright fresh acidity and a slightly oily but un-cloying finish of pomelo, almond macaroons and older oak. Moderate resonance. This just kept improving with more time , especially after being opened for 3 hours when the finish became more honeyed and the almond macaroons came to the fore on the finish. Fresh and youthful, this reminded me of how good white Bordeaux can be, especially as a food wine (this went really well with a home-cooked seafood and chicken paella).
