A very lite wine , as expected. Not as much going on as u would get from a high end american sauv blanc , but very tasty nonetheless. Very smooth juice. I liked this.

This was lovely upon opening, with some gooseberry, a slight nutty note, some wax, quite some tropical notes of unripe pineapple and mango and a creamy mouthfeel. When we tasted it a few hours later, it wasn't as good (but that may have been because we had something quite sweet just before). I don't see this becoming much better; if I would have more I would start drinking.

My wife opened it and I was driving, so I only had a little bit. But a food wine for sure as the semillon is front and center right now, or at least on opening it is. Curious if the acidity that developed for others in the more recent notes would have here ... if the bottle wasn't gone in a couple of hours! If so, it would this wine would a bit more diversity. I like wines like these, but they're often polarizing.

This is 5 years after the last bottle. And three days after opening this one. On day 1, i would have said, hmmm. But. It became better and better, until reaching and surpassing the opinion i voiced some 5 year ago. This IS a tremendous wine.
All vibrant, fresh on white fruits, mango thyme and basil, but also humming nice acidity, seamlessly integrated wood and a minute long lingering palate.
Almonds, caramel, vanilla, all in balance and pure pleasure.
This wine is sublime and for some bottles it will just take a bit longer to open. The 2009 is Malartic’s ground zero, the best i had the pleasure tasting. Given its profile, it has ages to go and is tremendous value. A legendary wine at white Haut Brion level.

I don't have much experience with this style of white wine , but if you are looking for something that is very good, and find Cali chard to be too much sometimes and white burgundy to be too austere at times , this would be a very nice option.

This is approaching it’s prime but nevertheless currently very lovely. Over three nights the wine clearly softened, gaining an overall elegance that was absent on opening.
The nose presented a pleasurable juxtaposition—soft honeyed, camomile notes and prickly whiffs of lime and lemon. Elsewhere there was Asian pear, baked apples, and ginger.
The palate followed the nose with added minerality, a creamy front and mid palate, and good acidity on the back end. The ginger, honey, and citrus notes lingered for a good twenty seconds. Highly recommended

This is consistent with my last time of tasting last December. Fully developed this is a great maure white Bordeaux and great value for money. Grapefruit and lemon with vanilla hints are the dominant flavours with a nice rounded palate and good clean finish. This can be drunk straight from the bottle.

Light yellow. Nose of lanolin, toasted nuts, beeswax and lemon. Explodes in the mouth. Unctuous and mineraly like a Northern Rhone. Buttered toast. Meyer lemon. Wanting a bit more acidity but I'm not throwing this wine out of bed for eating crackers. Wonderful partner for clams with braised fennel bulb. I should drink more white bdx.

Advanced straw colour, sherried notes on the nose. Flavour profile bit advanced for my palate, plenty of weight and richness but acidity on palate felt aggressive rather than integrated, I've really enjoyed other vintages of Malartic Blanc when served at 3 to 5 ears from vintage, this bottle at 12 years from vintage too mature for my palate.

I was suprised how advanced this is, and it appears fully mature, but has a structure to stay at its best for a good few years. I gave this a couple of hours in the decanter, but it probably wasn't necessary. It is full of lemon, and grapefruit and vanilla. It almost has a Burgundy feel on the palate, but the Sauvignon returns to the fore. The finish is very good with grapefruit notes becoming dominant. This is highly recommended and at present great value for money.

What a beautiful specimen. On the nose, the signature of Sauvignon Blanc is front and center. You can't go wrong. In the mouth, the acidity and the salty side like pebbles on sea shores could be confused with a Chablis but the fruity, honey and fatty taste with the taste of the grass is more than enough not to confuse the two regions. A perfect partner with a dish of clams. old white Bordeaux wines are special!

Mature white bordeaux, 80% sauv blanc, 20% semillon. Beeswax on the nose and upfront, melon and mild fruits on the palate, with a spine of acidity providing structure on the back end. Nuanced, refreshing, engaging, refined, great with food.

Juicy lemons, tangerine rind, vanilla, banana and grapefruit create a complex perfume. On the palate, the wine is even better with its volume, freshness and juicy, sweet, ripe fruits. The wine balances between perfectly lushness and freshness. At 10 years of age, this is really starting to kick in!

At the opening, the smell was a little cheesy so I was worried. After a few minutes, it was gone and it turned into a scent of lanolin citrus and freshly cut grass. The mouth was soft though and lacked energy so I decided to let the bottle cool in the fridge to reduce the temperature from that of the cellar. Once cooled, the wine was really transformed. While the nose remained the same, the mouth became more and more chiseled and powerful with a nice acidity and liveliness. In addition, the aftertaste has lengthened. Overall, a very pleasant wine to drink at this stage with a nice minerality and very classic Sauvignon characteristics. Not likely to improve from here.

Best white Bordeaux had in a loong time. Very elegant and subtle nose, with floral and citric notes. Complex and generous in the mouth, perfectly structured around lemon, grapefruit, floral notes, wild apple jam, maracuja, vanilla, almond, biscuit, but remaining perfectly blanaced and fresh and with an extraordinary finesse.

Kicked off my wine group's red Bordeaux smackdown with this spectacular white as a starter. Corrected for my mistake the first time I opened one of these, and therefore served an assortment of charcuterie and cheese to accompany the tasting. Incredible drinking window, strong, balanced structure of tannins that displays a honey, peach, lemon/orange and straw palate of flavours. Dry on the finish and long, it had the acidity and power to cut through and standout from the various cheeses and meats. Big enough that could easily pair with grilled meats. Incredibly good and worth the money, and worth rethinking just how versatile and enjoyable white Bordeaux can be.

This is really showing great today. All those beautiful, perfectly ripe citrus fruits, floral notes and crushed rock tones are making a great impression. The long finish combines sweet, yellow fruits, green apple and a touch of honeysuckle with minerality and just a hint of vanilla with ample freshness.

Good food wine. Medium bodied, medium acidity, medium fruit. Medium everything which is not a bad thing. Light citrus, and a hint of pear. Drinking well, but will go a lot longer. Yes, you got it, medium finish. Drank w/family and was one of the hits of the evening.

Light straw-gold colour. Nose is grapefruit, lifted lanolin, perfumed lillies, white and yellow peaches. Palate is nicely plump white and yellow peaches, white pear, peach stone, almonds, bright fresh acidity and a slightly oily but un-cloying finish of pomelo, almond macaroons and older oak. Moderate resonance. This just kept improving with more time , especially after being opened for 3 hours when the finish became more honeyed and the almond macaroons came to the fore on the finish. Fresh and youthful, this reminded me of how good white Bordeaux can be, especially as a food wine (this went really well with a home-cooked seafood and chicken paella).

Ripe, tropical, concentrated, aromas of cut grass, some grapefruit, modern in style. I don't have experience w long term aging of white Bordeaux, but my guess is that this style (ripe, low/medium acid) may not be a long term ager. Drink now or a few years for sure.

One of only a handful of classified wines in Bordeaux making both white and red, we think this is a very good expression of the positive attributes of Sauvignon Blanc (80%) when blended with Semillon (20%)! Spectacular white, very round and lush texture that begs for food accompaniment (where we did not do it sufficient justice). Golden honey-coloured, tones of grass and honey on the nose, minerally, stoney combination of peach, straw, and subtle honey on the palate. Well-structured and balanced, with medium finish, a truly well-made wine. Would be spectacular with a cheese plate.
We have been re-working our Wine Rating Criteria and, as such, have knocked this wine down a few points. Not a criticism...just a hopefully better way of evaluating. Creamy and a touch toasty, it paired exceedingly well with our steamed salmon, which we lightly dressed with olive oil, garlic and coriander. Wow!

Terroir-istes International - France, Bordeaux, Pessac-Leognan Blanc, Part 2 (Rodwell House): Pale lemon in colour, the aromas are bright with sherbet, lime and lemon zest, greengage and Galia melon. Modern, the wine has a juicy core of fruits with a racy acidity that supports lots of clean, ripe fruit flavours along with notes of smoke, white chocolate, green melon and white stone fruits. Not that complex, but with good extract (warmer year?), it opened it showed some flow in the mid-palate and some tension with its vibrant acidity. Medium length, it is drinking well right now.

UGC 2009 Bordeaux Tasting - NYC - 1.25.12 (New York City): Rounder and sadly a bit of a letdown to taste after the Chevalier blanc. Lacks that grip, that bracing and shocking focus. More oak dominated on the nose and riper on the fruit, but still a fantastic graves blanc. Sadly, it’s a casuality of its compatriot D de. Chev Blanc. (91-94)

Perfect Pessac. Combines the earhty, gravel notes from this unique terroir with the craftmanship of the Bonnie family. Pure and mineral nose, with honey-like colour. Sticks to the glass and just swims elegantly into your mouth. So charming.. By the way: the 2009 Rouge is splendid QPR..

Loads of sweet, fresh, citrus flavors with a dash of honey and floral notes. The wine has depth coupled with freshness and complexity that really shine through. This has gotten much better with a few years of age.

Balanced, almost creamy for a SB. Just an all around great white.

I served this in my wine class. Smokey oak noticeable on the nose, but well integrated. Intense lemon rind, bitter marmalade palate and nice long finish. Very enjoyable.

Minerality, spring flowers, citrus, spice, honeydew melon and orange rind create the complex aromas. Soft, round, rich and elegant, the wine is loaded with fresh, pure citrus and stone.

NB decanting really helped open this up, it was quite tight before; as it aerated the wine gained in texture and aroma. It was superb post-decanting.
Lovey tropical mineral infused nose, quite ripe and expressive. Great definition; full rich textural palate. Great creamy weight. Lovely flavour. Long.

Goedhius Bordeaux Cru Classe Tasting (Saatchi Gallery): A really excellent white wine with a lovely floral nose with peaches, apples and cream. Nice balance in the mouth with some sharpness on the palate. Medium length.

With strong notes of citrus oil, lemon wax, apples and spice, the wine combines rich textures and freshness that ends with a mineral driven, lemon wax finish.

Chev Blanc. (91-94)
