Sunday, November 8, 2020 - Method: tasted blind; 65 degrees; Cab glass
Look: medium+ garnet with a bit of tawny; high amount of slower legs
Nose: coffee grounds, tomato, stewed dark cherry, forest floor, light gravel, dried fig, brownie mix; very good and complex nose
Palate: sour cherry, soft graphite, black pepper; long finish of black pepper, mint, violet; dry; light+ body; high acidity; low+ fine, but slightly rough, tannin
Overall thoughts: Although this isn't complex on the palate, it's elegant, pretty, and smooth, and has a great nose. It has enough quality to for me to consider it a pretty great wine, but for the price (which doesn't affect my score), I'd hope for a lot more. This was a much weaker showing than the 1998 (I think) vintage of this wine I had a year ago.
