Wednesday, July 27, 2011 - Fine chenin nose with noticeable sweetness and strong acidity, this is a serious wine although, for my tastes, the sort of wine of which I only want one glass. A little cloying on its own, I prefer the Chidaine Montlouis bottlings or the 2007 Vouvray Argiles. A good wine, but it needs proper food - chicken with goat cheese, mozzarella - tomato salad was not the right match.

As a follow-up, this was left in the refrigerator for a day and really improved. It showed vivid acidity, a well-balanced sweetness and a lovely perfume - remarkable and a testament to the longevity of these 2008 Chidaines - store them away for your children, or drink them slowly a few nights.
