Saturday, January 28, 2012 - Very very good, this wine is well made. It has many layers, like ogres, which it ultimately resolves into a medium-full bodied satin wine. On pop it had very little heat that i could detect, but lots of spice and red fruit. The first taste was a bit thin but you can tell that there is a lot of stuff behind the first layer. It only took 45 minutes of air to peel off the first to the meaty part of the wine. The nose now has raspberrys, saffron, white pepper, and blueberry syrup(?) i think. There's also a nice balance between the smokey oak and i think clay (damp earthy dirt). The taste is perfectly balanced, raspberry creme tart, light mocha, white pepper, light acid with complementing tannins. I'm not sure how this would evolve over time, but its in a great place right now.
