Tuesday, December 31, 2019 - Drank on NYE over a rib roast. Showed beautifully after 20 years in the cellar although we lost about 20% of the bottle due to sentiment after decanting. Opened about 45 minutes prior to serving. It was a brown red color with clear signs of age, but still showing good concentration. On the nose, dark fruits of blackberry, herbs, and spice (black pepper) and some earthy barnyard almost Burgundian notes. The palate was rich with good dark fruits of ripe berries with notes of pepper and earth. Great texture and balanced acidity and tannin. Other notes have indicated this was over the hill, but I found this bottle to be drinking beautifully today. I would not hold longer, but wish I had a few more bottles to enjoy.
