95 Points

Thursday, July 4, 2013 - Absolutely stunning, the 2009 Flor de Pingus is a magnificent effort. Ater about an hour or two the wine opens up and provides brilliant red fruit, kirsch, raspberry, thyme, sage and lavender. The palate is super integrated and its dense complexity offers a lot of promise for the future. The tannins are there, as is the acidity and the length on the finish just goes on and on. This effort will continue to evolve for a good ten years - or more and last for two to three decades. In terms of complexity combined with a brilliant promise for the future, this is one of the top five wines I have ever tasted. It is a total stunner. For sure.

This is certainly a very rewarding vintage for FdP, either for inmediate consumption or long time cellaring, as I think it will please all palates. I will let my bottles rest for a long time... and see if I can resist popping one within the next five years.
    Best,
