Saturday, May 12, 2012 - Was still drinking well, surprised how well it stood up after decanting, even after 2 hours - did not fade but flavors and spices were still present. Glad I opened it now, mind you, but don't need to rush just yet. No tannins, definitely ready to drink and enjoy. While it's been a long while since I had an Opus, my taste memory was revived by the Overture. So wished I had more, but just the one bottle and this was my first time tasting it. Had it at dinner at Gary Danko's with guests. Offered Sommelier a taste and she said - "Of course black cherry / current notes, still bold with spice on the finish". I got eucalyptus on the nose. Paired with beef, pork and the chocolate moose was divine. Best value for money in my book. We agreed not as strong as an Opus One but still in family.
