Friday, December 25, 2015 - Supposedly this release of Overture is a blend of 2010, 2011 and 2012. There is no actual vintage designation on either the label or cork, and no UPC.
A (neo)classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec that's surprisingly approachable as a pop-and-pour, medium-full-bodied and with round, soft tannins, a plummy mouthfeel, and notes of red and bitter cherries. With time, graphite notes move in on the nose, while the palate gains in complexity as well. It seems like the fruit was optimally picked, ripe enough while never crossing into overripe territory. The 14.5% alcohol is seamlessly integrated.
A wine that's crowd-pleasing, food-friendly, and terribly quaffable. Not sure aging will benefit these bottlings, and they're oh so tasty right now...
