Sunday, August 23, 2020 - Alright last bottle I f’d up on the food pairing...I let it open for an 1:00-30 and it is still a little tight but I can tell its significantly improving as it opens, so here we go:

It’s a bit lighter than I expected and slightly transparent with a light purple center and red edges.

Nose: truly a bouquet, if this was made into a candle I’d gladly buy a dozen and I hate candles. Black cherry (raspberry & blackberry), baking spices, herbal green bell pepper, and strong graphite. A little bit of clove, cedar, mint leaf, anise, and a sweet cigar box round out the nose. I really love the smell of wine so forgive the long winded description.

Nice light-medium milky body, exceptionally smooth with a good acidity on the palate, acid turns into a bit of a toasted spice in the finish. Luscious red fruits are an effective primary, minerality, herbal greens, sweet flavored cigar smoke and good alcohol follow. Young red fruits and acidity tend to dominate, especially in the finish, initial palate sugar kind of counteracts the slightly tart red fruit. It is definitely dry and tannins grip you subtly, I think it will still improve quite a bit with age and could see the peak being great here.

I like when the nose matches the palate and you get that with this, it is a really good wine that I enjoy a lot but it doesn’t blow me away. 91.5
