Thursday, November 17, 2022 - Spongy cork, broke off and was unable to retrieve the remainder because it was almost powdery...had to push it into the bottle and decant off the wine. Once in a decanter, the squid-ink color and black-and-blue-fruited bomb erupted, tossing out aromas of graphite, smoke, black pepper, and anise. The tannins are finally starting to settle in on this 14 yr old wine, showing off it's full bodied feel with ample acidity to keep it from being too gratuitous. Just a lovely, big, big wine to enjoy alongside spicy homemade chili this evening. Kudos, drink through 2028+.
