Sunday, February 21, 2021 - Colour of tea but with a still golden meniscus. Viscous with long, clear, films of glycerin like legs. Nose of fruity tea, coconut sugar, vanilla, fresh cut cigars, rich, old, marmalade and ancient toffee. Lovely mouth feel, full, rich, unctuous, coating every corner of the palate with a multitude of complex flavours including, mint, old honeycomb, caramelised marshmallow, sweet tea, coconut syrup and muscovado. Good balancing acidity still present after 47 years making for a delicious, long, multidimensional, finish. Only the barest wiff of oxidation which blew off within 10 -15 minutes in the glass. Returned to several hours later in evening and even better, greater clarity and focus than at lunch. Remarkable and proof that good bottles of '73 Austrian Ausbruch still have life in them, especially TBAs. Personally, I'd drink up now as I don't think there'd be much to gain in keeping any longer. 50 years would be plenty for a perfectly stored bottle.
