Sunday, October 12, 2014 - Isabel Ferrando is one of my favourite producers in Southern Rhône. Her wines have power, but also freshness and, in search for better words, a lift. This one, from the pretty hot vintage 2009, is classic and typical Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Dark raspberries, a bunch of sunwarm stones, the seaweed/nori, the meatiness, the light garrigue and an acidity that is high for the region makes this a pleasure with our lamb. It's warm but not hot. The finish is long and pure. This is not going downhill, but I'm not quite sure it will reward cellaring. That depends on how you like your Chateauneuf. Today it's fresh, tomorrow I have a feeling it'll move more towards the dark side. (92-93)
