Saturday, October 29, 2011 - Dark purple and heavy in the glass. Plum, blackberry, tobacco, flint and cedar on the nose. Secondary fig, black licorice and saddle hide. Full body with massive, new world fruit extraction. Initial dark and red fruit, spiced tobacco and cocoa powder on the palate. Secondary mushroom, olive and scorched earth. Turns more juicy, sweet and succulent on the back…long finish. Moderately complex and a little tight with a striking balance between rustic and new world. Paired superbly with Moroccan oxtail with polenta, roast fennel and Japanese sweet potatoes. Yum!
