Tuesday, November 5, 2013 - This is one of the best 2007 Woodlands Margaret I have tasted. Having bought several dozen of these wines and cellared them in temperature controlled environment this wine is one of many I have sampled over the last few years. Unlike the previous tasting in 2012 the youthful mauve edge has disappeared. The nose is predominantly a ripe jammy blackcurrant supported by blackberry, fragrant notes, cigar box, milk coffee, smoke and rosemary. There are earth and seashell undertones. The wine reminds me of a classed growth St Estephe. It is elegant and brooding. The palate is silky smooth and rich. This softness of the palate feel is something that appears to be more pronounced than the last tasting. My comments were that this wine was young and unintergrated in 2010. It is well intergrated now 3 years later. The flavours reflect the nose and linger on the palate. Drunk between 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours and better toward 1 1/2 hours. Estimated temperature around 18 degrees.
Can this wine improve further? We will see.
