92 Points

Sunday, June 22, 2014 - First bottle since December, 2011. Noticeably less tight and restrained now. Still not particularly impressive on the nose, but very rich and focused on the palate. There is remarkable depth and definition to the raspberry, plum and dark currant fruit here. Finishes much longer now - with abundant, mouth-puckering tannins that have barely begun to integrate. True to its pedigree, this wine is built for the long haul and has clearly improved over the past two and a half years. Not yet quite as broad and complex as the 2006 or 2007, but it is closing the gap. Should continue to develop nicely over the next 3-5 years. 92+
50+5+12+17+8=92

8/25/2014 12:33:00 PM - Absolutely, Motz. This needs at least another 2-3 years to get even close to fully developed. In the meantime, I suggest trying to find a bottle or two of the 2007 Carpineta Fontalpino Dofana. A 50/50 Sangio/Petit Verdot blend, but drinks very much like a good Oreno. Cheers!
