Just a touch diminished from the last bottle. Still dark jammy fruit notes, with a rich, warm palate of red and dark fruit with enough acidity and tannins to provide support. Finishes with smoke, earth and fruit.

This wine is indestructible because of its amazing balance! It poses intense fruit flavors and good structure. You cannot get even a hint of the 14%+ alcohol in this wine. I learned a new match as well, lamb curry and zinfandel! Yes, the spiciness of the dish and the wine cancel out each other and the sweet fruit of the wine just washes down the heat and cleans your palate while leaves a sweet after taste. The wine did not budge after the 3rd day on the counter.

great mix of sweet raspberry and cherry fruit with herb, earth, eucalyptus and menthol; smooth fruit with some rusticity the menthol/acid finish; gets the most out of this grape

Wasn't expecting much from this Zin, but wow, I was surprised. Blackberry/strawberry jam on the nose, palate-soaking mature dark fruit with luscious acidity seemlessly melded to smooth, light tannins. Long finish dominated by dried fruit, but uplifted by dark cocoa and hints of anise.

Saturday, December 05, 2009 - Tasted at the 17th Annual Zin Thing Few notes taken. Of 7 zins tasted, two were clear favorites, and one a clear second. This was one of the remaining 4. May still have been good - cannot recall.
