Big, hearty, ripe, full Zin. Strong vanilla, cocoa, and plum, followed by long lingering ripe muddled berry flavors. Stays long on the palate. For a huge Zin, this is a great choice. If you prefer more subtle, steer clear.

35th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2008s (Rich & Dana's): Crimson color with aromas of beef bouillon cubes, meat, black fruit and white pepper, turning dark and pruny. Medium-bodied with dark fruit, buillon and raisin flavors. If you like 'em big and ripe, this is your kind of wine.

So the nose was not very impressive but we had just had a Pinot before which had amazing aromas. For me this was a bit jammy. I could gets hints of oak along with dark fruit possibly boysenberry in there too. The fruit was forward and the finish did not linger. The acidity & tannins were rather mild & what I remember the most is all the fruit. This is a big zin just not my style.

A big nose of dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. Big fruit with blackberry, black cherry, spices, if you love a big wine then this is for you, was very good.

Boerne Wine Club - Zinfandel (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX): Wow this is trying hard. Hughe ripe boysenberry nose with sweet oak influence. Strong oak on the palate, quite sweet—and I suspect residual surgar, with a lengthy if tiring finish of vanilla, toast, charcoal, and currants. Overdone. 85-87.

Damn this a big boy. In your face with a load of spice and a shit ton of fruit. Some will love it, some will hate it. But you can't fault it for what it is: monolithic, hedonistic, bombastic, fun as a sumbitch. Great with a big slab of rare beef. I likey. 90

Second day - vac sealed. I'm pretty impressed. Nose of big mocha, cocoa and blackberry. In the mouth similar, with spice and acidity. Maybe a touch thin on the back end, but gets fuller even as opens up today. Overall, enjoyed a lot. (Reminds me a bit of when Joel Gott gets it right, though it's been a long time since i've had a Joel Gott that i have enjoyed this much.) Very solid zin. The mocha/ cocoa makes it for me.

A big step down from the 07. While decent wine lacks varietal character. Just big generic red.

Good, big & fruity. Might have benefited from a longer decant or a little more time on the shelf. Would try again.

very fruity with a mild palate. Very smooth up front, but not much flavor besides the fruit. I prefer a more bold zin....
