Very dark, almost blackish. Nose not very open at cellar temperatures but earthy blackberry; wood more burnt than sweet. Entry is tasty nice black fruit with earth and tobacco. Tannins coming a bit quite late and not strong. This simply follows a linear path with a weighty mouth moving from the tasty slightly more fruit driven entry to a more herbal, tobacco, olive finish. Still a fair bit of spirit left in this. Extended to 2025.

This wine is holding strong. The fruit pops, tannins are in the background but present. There is blackberry and chocolate and a hint of anise. Enough acid to hold hold up to food. All in all, a great wine for its origin and price point

Been drinking one of these every couple of years and, while still sound, they don't seem to be getting better and this was my least favorite bottle. The tannins are still present but the fruit has gotten darker and more raspy. I worry about what will come next but will keep on y trajectory and have the next one in 2022.

Dark color. Balanced nose of jammy fruit and light wood. Entry is dark fruit with good weight. Graphite, tobacco and pepper. Smooth, well integrated wine of good complexity. Nice now but years left.

Very pretty wine. Punches above it's weight. Lots of dark cherry fruit and, as other have noted, rich chocolate notes. Medium weight. Easy to enjoy. Vietti showing that they know how to make wine.

Still dark and brooding, earthy and mineral, currants and dark cherries mix with notes of cocoa powder, graphite and a hint of bitter oak. still some tannins left but mostly resolved. Hasn't changed much since last bottle. - 91 points

The nose displayed crushed stone minerality met by cool-toned black and red fruit with peppery herbal spice and dried florals in the truly seductive bouquet. On the palate, I found silky, weighty textures, yet lifted and pure, due to zesty acidity as sweet blue and blackberry fruits gave way to crushed sweet violets and light spices. It finished wonderfully long and satisfying as its ripe dark fruits slowly faded, leaving mineral and sweet floral tones. The 2007 La Crena is in a perfect place right now.

Drink at the Sportsman with roast lamb; had been double decanted 5 hours earlier. This retains a deep colour and is still for me a bit young despite showing some evolution - dark quite ripe cherry, early signs of leather, and notes of sweet herbs, spice and a hint of coffee. I think these are better at age 20 than age 10 ***(*)

The nose was dark and highly expressive, showing black cherry, plum sauce, licorice, dark chocolate, sweet herbs and a hint of tobacco. It was seamless and silky on the palate with bitter black fruits, dark chocolate, a small remnant oak and crushed stone minerality. It’s still quite youthful on the finish with concentrated dark red fruit battling intense Barbera acidity. The ’07 La Crena seems to be a little baked by the 2007 heat, but still quite fresh and just outside its drinking window; in another year or two, this should be at peak.

Deep ruby and medium-full bodied on the palate with black raspberry flavors lingering. This shows the fruit of Barbera over any oak treatment. Quite fresh on the finish as well. I think this is at a really good place now. Don't know how much more it might improve with secondary aspects.

An excellent and still young Barbera with dark fruit favors of currant and dark cherries that mix with notes of cocoa powder, graphite and bitter oak. Elegant tannins and bright acidity, very well structured and with a long finish on cherries and slightly bitter oak. Should continue to age well for several years. Probably best around age ten. - 91 points

Beautiful nose with dark fruit that is open and expansive. The mouth is a near perfect balance of ripeness and structure. I decanted for 1 hour and this wine was best after 2. Starting to enter its prime drinking window now. A great example of the quality of Vietti wines. Bravo!

Very nice everyone enjoyed. Perhaps a bit early. The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like prune, fig, cherry, plum and coffee. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Beau vin velouté et gouteux, assez aérien. Nez sur les prunes, les mures et le chocolat. En bouche, belle acidité. Des canneberges, des cerises et des herbs avec une belle finale qui fait saliver.

The nose showed blackberry jam, plum sauce, sweet floral notes, dark savory tones and hints of toasty oak. On the palate, it was rich and velvety with a dollop of acidity, which kept the mouth watering as a wave of dark fruits, tart berry, minerals and bitter dark chocolate soaked the senses. The intense fruit and zesty acidity cloaked this wines imposing structure, which was most noticeable on the long mouth puckering finish.

Did not make the two years suggested in the first note, but about 16 months later this is really quite good. Deep but refined. A dark stunning ruby, with purple hints. Rich rose aromas mixed with bold cherry and ripe orange. Long finish. Great weight. Plenty of structure to continue to hold, but really drinking well at present.

Nice fruit on the nose with some spice. The palate is smooth with a medium finish. I found it to be young on day 1 but still very drinkable(92). I poured the remainder into a 375 ml bottle corked and left in the fridge for 2 days. I wasn't expecting much on day 3 but thought to try some before washing the rest down the sink. Lush fruit, beautiful smooth tannins and a long finish. WOW! This wine will be in it's prime in 5 years. Glad I have a case in the cellar.

Powerful nose of dark fruit and wood. Minerality also coming with perhaps a touch of alchhol heat. Strong entry with a fairly heavy mouth. Very strong acidity and quite firm overall structure with terrific length. Could stand a year at least. This is a masculine wine with a great deal of depth.

These need to be held a bit, but show a world of potential. Marron to puple out of the bottle, with a cherry, blueberry, crushed rose petal nose. Tangy acidity with more than a touch of rawness to the tannins, opening nicely with time open to present cherries, blueberries, blackberries and plum. Hints of orange. Wait at least two more years to open next bottle.

Second bottle in the last few weeks. Still young but so good with acidity and smooth tannins in balance. Not a hard edge in this barbera beauty. This is on par with the 2004 which is drinking so well now.

Medium purple. Cherry floral nose is nice. A bit wooden but remains fresh. Wow - lots of flavor on the mouth - tart fruit, violets. Small touch of bitterness that faded away over time. High acidity and punishing tannins - almost overdone. Needs a few years to settle but well done and well balanced.

Could use a bit more acid (come on, Vietti!), but delicious notes of dark berries, tobacco, and a little barrique vanillin. QPR is questionable, but a solid bottle nonetheless. Better on night 1 than 2, suggesting near-term drinking is in order.

Beautiful nose of dark fruits. Taste of the same - blackberries ,maybe even huckleberries. Dense sweet fruit with great balancing acidity. Will try to wait a couple years until opening another bottle but it'll be hard (even though I know these are supposed to only get better).
