PnP. Deep garnet w/ dark red brick edge in color. Muted nose of sous bois, plums, worn leather, subtle mint & spice. On the palate: white mushrooms, plums, red berry & red licorice. Super fine-grained tannins are perceived on cheeks and gums. Long finish of red berries, plums & subtle wood spice. As stated by others, this is at the far end of the window--if you have some, drink up soon.

This is our last bottle of the 2007 from our trip to the winery a few years ago. Has held up very well, and a great pairing with our NY strip steaks. Had a bit left over the second day for dinner as well, and it perhaps softened up a bit more by that time. Great wine! I think the 2019 community end-date is off by a few years at this point, suggesting 2022.

I wish I could take back my earlier tasting score. My tasting notes still stand, but with a good 2 hour decant, this is awesome IGT. Very smooth, earthy and just the right amount of tannins. Wish I had more.....

This Poggio Antico Madre was excellent, a bit of earthy quality on the nose and generous fruit in the glass. The drink by date through 2019 seems about right.

As others noted, lots of leather, plum and earth. Not much fruit and the Sangio notes are dominant over the cab. Not as good as I remembered at Poggio Antico, but after shipping this all the way from Montalcino to the US, I didn't treat it with due respect and did a PnP. Given a good decant and the right food, this wine will surely do well. Respect the wine......

Deep red-garnet colour. Nose of leather, some dark fruit and a little spice and herbs. Lots of cherry, little plum and some earthiness on a really smooth palate. Fairly long finish, good acidity, really well balanced. It was pretty obviously a Sangiovese-Cabernet blend but done exceptionally well - taking the best from both. Quite enjoyable.

Intimate Tasting of Poggio Antico's New Releases (Knightsbridge Wine Shop (Northbrook, IL)): More spicy cherry and leather. Cassis liqueur. Lots of wood, graphite, pencil shavings.
Great mouth feel. Big structure. Lovely mid palate.
New World meets Old World styling. Plums but also some light bright acidity. Depth but accessible. Drinking well.
