this is probably the best DG Pinot yet (i have not yet broken into '13-15) ... like drinking a bit of art ... not sure how much longer this state will persist ... i will be drinking more '09 this winter

drank with '08. i thought the '09 better with more structure and some spice, but my wife thought '08 better and claimed the '09 flat ... score is mine (not average). if i look at the two bottles, the '09 is 1 glass less than the '08 - a good indicator.

I've had several of these bottles since June 2012. I think it's in a really good spot now - tastes better than it has previously. Aromatic, smooth, layered, complex.

Very fruity cassis/cherry aroma, with some vanilla and white pepper. Also something strongly floral. The DG website refers to the coriander trait of the vineyard, and after sniffing a jar of coriander spice, I can see the connection. The wine changes a lot over the course of a half hour in the glass, getting rounder, smoother and smelling better/more subtle. It has a very fruity, sweet taste. Feels very full and round. While my initial reaction is that it's a tad too sweet and too flat for my taste, the finish lingers and keeps me refilling the glass. It really grows on you...

Dark and rich. Great depth of fruit and flavors. This wine is in a very good place right now.

Chewy and yet silky. Dark berry compote with nice long finish. Enjoyed with bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and chimichurri sauce. Delicious!

Another great Pinot from D-G.
Dark red berry color.
Rich nose of spice, red berries, black cherry, hint of earth.
In the mouth one tastes layers of red fruits and berries, notes of spice and vanilla.
A complex, balanced pinot (13.5%) that is layered, and opens up over time. Drinks very well now, worth laying down 3-5+ years.

Same as prior note. Can't understate importance of decanting this - it is a much better, smoother wine after breathing some.
