Color has deepened to amber, but this is a wonderful, rich wine bursting with smooth caramel and butterscotch. Held its own (though for different reasons) with a 2009 Kistler.

Out of the bottle, first scent -- very oaky and ALCOHOL (almost pear brandy-ish). To the taste, heavy oak with little apparent outside of oak. As the wine opened up (we had the bottle in our cellar at 55 degrees), it became more well balanced, the oak flavor "de-tensified", and hints of pear and apricot came through. All-in-all, I am a bit underwhelmed with this wine (it tasted much better at Pride's winery from what I can remember)... still, I am enjoying it with my wife and that's what is important. Tonight we drank in honor of our dog, Bailey (who is fighting lymphoma).

Aussie Wines Offline (Canyon Lodge American Grill - Laguna, CA): The biggest white of the tasting. Notes of grilled pineapples, ripe pears, and canned peaches. The oak has not yet been integrated into this wine and the finish is a bit hot. As Goldilocks would say, "This wine is too soft." 86-87 points.

oaky...dark golden yellow. this was a cali chard. it got better with air, but i was surprised that it was so "generic". i thought it would have been much better.

One of the best chards I've had. Nice subtle oak, not buttery, just great flavors and a really nice finish.

almost like a desert wine...the color looked more like a sauternes than a chard.
