Opened and tasted over the course of several hours. Pours very dark. Big, intense blue fruit and oak on the nose. Also noted where plenty of baking spice and chocolate. Rich and almost creamy on the palate, but thoroughly enjoyable. Hedonistic, yes, but with a hint of acidity to attempt reigning in the sweet fruit and wood flavors. While not normally my style, I really liked where this was.

Too volatile and tight on the first night. Much better on day 2. Dark. inky ruby, 95% saturated and heavily painted legs. Nose is profound and plummy, toasted walnut, mocha, and big spices. Mouthfeel is smooth and silky with a good spine of tannin and acid. Chocolate and cherry, leather and lace. This gets really good with enough air. Solid value 5+11+15+8 = 89

Well balanced aroma of plum, pepper, and chocolate. Flavor of plum, peppery spices with jammy finish. Full bodied, smooth, round tannins. Went well with spicy chicken. Very drinkable.

14% Syrah. Dense dark purple color. Woodsy plum, pepper, and cedar aromas. Medium-full bodied palate with plum, spice, tobacco, and chocolate notes with some chewy tannins. Smooth medium length finish. Quite enjoyable overall – a true shame Olsen Estates closed following the 2009 vintage.

Really enjoyed this, a bit of a modern style, but a p,easier to drink. Good qpr of course. Let the others sit a while longer

Solid QPR. Bold fruit with herbal and menthol notes. A little flat on the finish but overall good.

Almonds and cherries on the nose, a little astringency. Lots of cherries on the palate. Tannins nicely balanced. Easy wine to drink.
