"Deep Italian'" Wine Dinner (New Jersey): One of my last two 375's of this, taken to a tasting event. Deep burnt sienna/caramel color, a couple shades darker than my previous bottles. Quite honeyed, with, vanilla, apricot and warm candied almonds on the nose and palate. I forget the ABV but it seemed pretty potent/ Nice with ricotta pie, whipped cream and berries.

Very complex and layered with a dark golden copper color. Caramel, vanilla, raisins, grilled apricot and florals are obvious flavors and aromas. Went quite well with a pineapple angel food cake and Graeter’s black raspberry chocolate chunk ice cream. Long life ahead.

Beautiful tension between fresh acidity and sweet goodness. Notes of honey, ginger, almonds, dried apricots and orange marmalade linger on a long full finish. Outstanding quality.

Clear medium amber with big slow legs; clean pronounced nose of honey, figs, dried apricot, almonds, walnuts, toast, sultana raisin and marmalade; developed; sweet; medium plus acidity; medium alcohol; full body; pronounced intensity; pfn with addition of caramel; long finish; outstanding; drink now but could age 5 more years; absolutely divine

Italian Wine Night in Philadelphia (Union League Club's Cellar 62): One of the last bottles consumed at the Italian wine night in Philadelphia. This is a lovely copper color with a nose of creme brûlée, apricot, raisin and ample sweetness. On the palate it has tangerine, apricot, and a creamy texture along with a slightly metallic undertone. The finish is long and luxurious. This went surprisingly well with the chocolate item in our 3-part dessert. With plenty of acidity and body this wine will last a very long time and improve/change considerably along the way. Tied for my #3 WOTN.

With dessert on Italian Wine night in the cellar at Union League. This was perhaps my biggest surprise or "discovery" of the evening, what a treat to be formally introduced to a well made vin santo. I previously had only been exposed to this in winery tasting rooms. Quite different than tonight, the setting and company made this a special experience. Caramel alcohol nose, the palate shows complex unctuous layers of tangerine, honey, and metallic notes. Fantastic with chocolate.

From 375ml. Oxidative, notes of walnute, figs, dried fruit, honey on the nose. Intense, spicy and sweet on the palate, walnuts again. Well balanced. The finish is quite vibrant and really long. Very nice. 91-93

Lovely pink/copper color, light and aromatic on the nose with floral and light fruit notes. Rich and unctuous yet bright with good acidity and verve. Always one of my favorite Vin Santo!

A few people picked up on a celery note on both the nose and palate which distracted from the otherwise appealing caramel notes.

Rather more aged, less vibrant than my experience at a recent tasting. Bottle variation?
