Garnet to brick in color. Nose is rich with ripe black and red cherry, old soft leather, cocoa and dust. Palate of black cherry, red cherry, chocolate, soft but not absent tannins, low alcohol, med acid, and a smooth, long finish. Past its best days but still a wonderful treat. What were you doing in '86 while these grapes ripened? I was 8, wrapping up 2nd grade and rounding towards 3rd!

Opened about 20 minutes prior to serving. On the nose it already showed advanced age. Lots of black olive and hints of dry leather. Not much fruit. Texturally though, this was wonderful. There was a fine balance of acidity and tannins throughout. If there had been some fruit to support that, it could've been a great wine.

Derrick's 40th Birthday (Southwest Harbor, Maine): Brickish red at the core with a light rusted orange rim. Scents of dates, prunes, and other dried fruits dominated with a hint of toasted oak and tobacco in the background. In the mouth flavors of dark fruit, mulled spices, and chewing tobacco played out over a medium-short finish.

Tasting of 9 wines with Bruce Cass, Matt and Karla sold the Cutting Board, and it quickly faded from the wine scene in Walnut Creek. Flight A wine 2. Contained grapes from the adjacent parcel to the Casa Nuestra, same cherry color in the glass, same musty nose, of medium fruit, supple, medium body in the mouth with typical cabernet flavors, at its peak, medium finish with soft, light tannins and flavors.

Surprising that there was any life left in this wine. Oak on the nose with fruit on the finish. If you are holding any, I would drink soon.
