Wow. This was sublime. Such balance and harmony. Golden Amber in the glass. Comes across as much younger than it is. Some savory notes. Quite lush. Totally delishious. The best aged champagne I have ever tried.

Young and vibrant out of this magnum. On the nose brioche, hazlenuts, fois gras but also an elegant and flowery bouquet. After a while in the glass it explodes with coffee notes! Good acidity that balances the fatness of the flavors. Still - not as good as the wine straight out of PJ's cellar...

Deep golden yellow color. Bubbles are small and plentiful, though light. Odd funk and brine nose. Dense and complex on palate, with brine and fruit and butter and lots of mineral. Long mineral finish. Really grew on me over the hour or so of consumption.

This one was tasted as part of a vertical done at Perrier Jouet of their Belle Epoque 00, 99, 98, 96, 95, 88, 85 and 82 (see separate notes for the other wines). Cannot help it but I like more mature champagnes. This one is fantastic with a sweat nose and creme brulee on the palate. Still good acidity of course but this one is very very nice to drink just now. This bottle was of course perfectly stored in the cellars of Perrier Jouet and so better bottles will be hard to find.

Deeo colour, mousse quite coarse and impersistent. Lovely nose of fresh brioche. Quite crisp on the palatte, some mature aromas but still hints of a lemony aperatif style. Classy but not in the top division.

Was great with smoked salmon, deep gold color, finely bubbly.
Very long in mouth.
Its time has arrived, won't last 10 years more.
