Very saturated purplish colour with very high optical density and low reflectivity. Strong nose, with dark fruits (plum, blackberry, cassis), loads of aromatic compounds, and some tobacco and candied character on the back end. Rich and plush full body on the palate with medium acidity and a tight, polished texture that has melted tannins and is slightly off-dry. Flavour intensity is high, with candied dark fruits on the attack. Swirling and loaded with fruit, there is even some ripe reds on the palate, with raspberry, blueberry, cherry, and others coming in waves in a concentrated and dense package. The midpalate is still rich, and still shows fruit, but things fade toward the final transition, when a more earthy, vegetable flavour array fills in the hollow. The finish is of light tobacco smoke and warm fruit (not quite jam, or dried fruits, but certainly a very ripe cocktail), and some black pepper spice, and is medium in length.
Overall, there is a lot of intensity here, and a good bit of complexity, but with a tilt toward fruit, with not much else adding in. Very powerful as a fruit-forward wine, this has aged well, as it shows really nice balance at the moment. Juicy and dense, this is a really nice wine, although it is a bit of a one-dimensional fruit bomb that is more modern than anything. Represents good value, and if a fruit-dense wine is called for, this will fill that role. Excellent concentration, just can't seem to find enough depth, so some will love the easy drinkability, while others will be left looking for more lying beneath the surface. Would think this is a drink now wine, but I don't think it will fade super fast either, as it has the fruit, and may just be lacking acid and tannic structure to go much further.

Tasted it less than a year ago and I found it way too oaky. This bottle however was very nice with almost no hints of oak! Lots of blueberries and perhaps raspberries. Touch of pepper. Very good and excellent qpr! 88-89

Dove straight into this one and found it rounded or polished in many regards, with a little back heat to boot. Pleasant nutmeg aromas on the nose and vaguely herbal qualities with bell pepper and a bit of "pine." Feminine floral fruit notes into mixed dark berry and smoky cedar. Later followed by oak influenced vanilla/clove expressions which eventually predominated. Pepper.
A powerful wine with elusive subtleties - a sure fire bang under $20!
DAY 2: A really nice aged blueberry profile, a bit savoury. Good drink!

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like red currant, raspberry, cranberry, prune, vanilla, oak, tobacco and alcohol/hot. It tastes like raspberry, red currant, prune and oak. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. Very nice wine and the last of my lot. So long my old friend.

Dinner with Monthly Group at Waterloo Times (Waterloo Times, Waterloo Centre): A nicely gulpable table wine. Dried plums and sweet blackberry aromas on the nose were matched with a little touch of herb and spice. On the palate, soft tannins and bright acidity framed decent, mid bodied flavours of ripe black fruit framed with more herby brush and spice notes. Simple, but nicely balanced and very drinkable.
