Monolithic dark fruit, with a surprisingly high level of tannins. Some dark soil tones and if one searches hard there might be faint nutmeg, but this wine was largely shutdown. Might have not been the most representative bottle, although everything appeared in order, or I may just not see what the professionals see in this wine in this vintage

Vertical of Clos Vougeot from 2005-1985 (Clos Vougeot): Lovely spicy nose. Clafoutis like fruit, cake and cherry. The palate is again a bit tight and unresolved as with the Faiveley, with a slightly mouth puckering aspect. Try now, if you must, but with a steak.

If this wine were served blind I would have not guessed it to be a 2000. The nose displayed dark cherries, minerals and wet earth. Vibrant fruit on the palate with great backbone. The quality of the tannins are what threw me off considering the vintage. Lovely wine and again surprised to say that it needs a few years to really integrate.

Mugneret Gibourg Clos Vougeot (Medlar (London)): Some savoury bay leaf notes, meatiness, sweetness and roundness, got to love 2000!

An evening of Mugneret-Gibourg (Le Deuxième, Long Acre, London): Very cherry, silky texture, no grip, a wee bit of cardboard on the finish
