Good wine but at the end of its age. Tannins are soft and supple but fruit is still round. I get big tobacco out of this wine with dry, crushed stone amid dark cherries. Finish lingers. A little hot on the palate, perhaps owing to 14.3%.

medium dark Syrah with some flaws that show up slightly in the nose as a vegetal funk, hints of green pepper the palette is nice. It starts a little thin and red for a Syrah and then build to bugger fruit before dropping off to lingering cherries and pepper. There are nuances of earth, more like clay that cool the palette. This is not a wine I'd sit and sniff but will sip. The finish is the prize.
Time to drink up offer next two-three years.

Quite enjoyable Syrah with just the right amount of age. CA wine made old world style, black dried fruit starting to supplant fresh fruit, still some tannin and well balanced.

This continues to drink well. Pleasing nose with dark fruit and a bit of funk. Tastes great despite being a bit one-dimensional. Still showing plenty of structure, so additional time in the cellar might help. A great bottle of syrah for the price.

Opaque black red color with dark fruit, leather, and spice aromas. On the plate it's medium bodied and fresh, and well-balanced with black cherry, blackberry, and spice flavors. Medium finish

Oddly, the initial bouquet is of manure / farmyard. Flavors of smoke, bacon, black pepper and leather. A man's man syrah. Will be interesting to see how it evolves with age...

Tasted at the winery. Tight on the nose with a hint of pepper. More pepper and black cherry notes on the palate with hints of sweet red fruit on the back end. Structure is present, but balanced.

Unti Vineyards (K&L Wine Merchants, San Francisco, CA): On the nose, a little brett, black cherries, black pepper. On the palate, black cherries, black pepper, chewy tannins, well-integrated oak, great finish, very vibrant fruit. Really good.

No notes taken, but this was a step down from the '07 Unti Syrah Benchland in terms of complexity.

No notes taken. This was enjoyable but not particularly memorable. Probably needs a little more time in the cellar before popping the next bottle.
