PnV. Medium dark burgundy in color. Nose of crushed rock, raspberry, leather. Ripe plums and gravel on the palate with quite a bit of acidity. Fruit came out more as the wine warmed. At 55°F the wine was quite firm, but as it got up past 65°F the wine fattened up a bit more. Regardless, I was expecting more but was a bit underwhelmed as it seemed a bit too linear.
Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Syrah glass.

Drinking nicely, if not a bit flat, with no decant. Ripeness of its younger days has blown off. Nose is muted fruit with subtle spice. Finish is slightly tannic. Consumed at cellar temp. Drink now - 2018.

It has been about 4.5 years since I first tried this wine. It still needs at least an hour decant for the heat to blow off. With some time, the ripeness gives way to the dark fruit flavors. Works pretty well with a simple cheese pizza. Drink now through 2020+

A nice drink. The nose was much longer and more interesting than the finish. This bottle aged moreso perhaps? Savory with a hint of funky Rocks. It provided some intrigue to a Monday night quiet dinner

Very savory aromas, with a touch of something sweet underneath. Cracked peppercorn, barrel notes, and what smells like pie...fruit unknown. Flavors of black pepper and umami on the attack, followed by hints of boysenberry fruit, fading into a finish of peppery salinity and bitter espresso. Very interesting wine! Super-savory, but not the funky Rocks District flavors I love so much...this is different, and very tasty. Drink now - 2018+.

Very happy with the wine. First time I've tried it. Decanted ~ 90 minutes. Blue/black fruit. OK nose. Ripe integrated complex. Long finish. Will look for some '13 if available.

Very well received by our wine group friends. Shows as relatively early in its drinking window. Strong berry flavors with good, but not strong, spice. Tannins are slightly subdued right now. Will probably be best in 15-18 months.

This Syrah is really starting to come into its own. I popped this bottle and let it sit for about 30 minutes before my first glass. Much of the upfront ripeness noted in my TNs from about a year ago has disappeared. The pepper, smoke and bacon notes are now at the forefront of the nose. I'll see how things develop on Day 2.

Nice spicey syrah. Nothing new to add to ises1 analyses. We did aerate for several hours which really helped the wine's texture. It gained griity weight without flabbiness over the course of 4 hours.

TNs in line with previous bottles. Popped, poured and let first glass breath for just under an hour. Stored wine in corked bottle until Day 2. Again, this Syrah seems to integrate and settle down, and is much better, by Day 2. 91+

TNs in line with previous bottle. Consumed over the course of three days. Bottle was decanted for two hours before the first glass, and was stored in a corked decanter. Wine was more balanced, and the flavors were more defined on Day 2. By Day 3, the wine began to fall flat and the finish became a bit tart, although the nose rounded out for the better. I'll try my next bottle in about 6 months. 91+.

Consumed over the course of two evenings. At times, the nose seems to be holding back and revealed only ripe jammy berries; at other times, the familiar Syrah scents of blackberries, pepper and smoke come through. The palette is creamy, smooth and balanced. The finish is long, and at times a bit feisty and ripe. This Syrah is clearly young but gives subtle hints of great things to come. The wine improved with time in the glass, and was noticeably better on Day 2. The only way I can reconcile the poor score on Wine Spectator is a flawed bottle, or the bottle was popped, poured and consumed without aeration. In my opinion, better after 2013. 91+.

Great aromas of jam, very much enjoyed it. Blackberries. jammy start with a smokey finish. So glad I got 2, I'll be saving the other and letting it age a little but definitely worth a try if you like Syrah!

Pepper. Blackberry. Wonderful lingering dark fruit. Great and long lingering on the palette. Also had this with prime rib. Was tied with a much pricier wine. Scored poorly on wine spectator... they must have had a flawed bottle or a flawed spectator because this is amazing. QPR is killer.

This is obviously young but a very well made wine. Great typical syrah flavors with a reticent nose. Somewhat fiesty, linear, and at the same time angular that improved with aeration. Its exuberance remained despite decanting. This will undoubtedly improve with age. I'm going to try and hide the remaining case I have for 2-3 years to let it integrate and settle down.

Opened a day early and it remained flat. Fruit quite muted, not much of the character earlier bottles possessed. Would recommend limiting decant time.
