A really dark, concentratd wine. The nose is fascinating, with heavy black licorice tones. It reminded me of that wonderful black licorice you get in the Netherlands. Also on the nose is black cherry, cassis and sage. Full bodied and still somewhat tannic, there isn't a whole lot of dark fruit on the palate, I detected mostly red currant, raspberry and a fair amount of cedar and spice. I can't make up my mind if the tannins and wood flavor aren't integrating well or it still needs more bottle time? Still overall a pretty good effort, very interesting wine and very different from your average Alexander Valley red wine.

Heavily oaked and unbalanced, however very smooth and deliberate. You can tell that the winemaker has potential due to their heavily concentrated grapes. There just seems to be a lack of balance in barrel aging, alcohol content, and glycerin.

Fregrant, berries & oak, soil. Fairly strong tanins but good overall mouthfeel. Fruit and alchohol still working it out, but very pleasent and drinkable. Decant for an hour or so.

Drank a half bottle of this at Pillar in Napa. Not much nose upon opening, but smooth, silky tannins show through immediately. Wish I could say the same fot the fruit. One hour later and "Where's the Fruit?". Whew, 90 minutes have gone by now and the fantastic braised short rib dish is just about gone, but guess what, finally fruit. Keep this massive monster for a few years before drinking, or better yet, let it sit for a day in a decanter. It's got all the usual Alexander Valley characteristics and is going to be a nice wine in a few years. Be patient!

Ok. Not totally bad. Pretty one dimensional. Drink 'em if you got 'em I would say.

Not a lot of depth and complexity - typical of the '00 vintage. Definitely ready to drink.

Extremely thin. Drank in 2006, and is on the decline. Not atypical of the 2000 vintage, though.
