Robust with plenty of roasted strawberry and bramble fruit. On the cusp of tasting a little baked which I don't think it down to storage so thinking it may be coming to the end of its best drinking. lots of fine suspended sediment on opening, so needs standing for a day having been laid down for 3.5yrs

4 hour + decant, strong perfumed licorice, cherry, touch of green pepper and sage in the bouquet. The palate contains caramel, cherry, a hint of dark fruit with a touch of anise carrying over from the bouquet. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a fine opulent body and a medium finish, the QPR out of this bottle is excellent.

After a 4 hour decant it has a full nose. There is a very complex mix of fruit and leather tones with a touch of anise and wood barrel. Tannic and savory with a full palate of tastes. Very complex, hints of fruit like deep cherry and rust mix with bolts of leather and a heavy tree pollen mix. This would go great with a red meat dish. I like the full body and would drink again. Very tasty.

Dark red violet color; nice tart red berry, baked cherry nose; juicy, tart red fruit, tart cherry, tart red berry palate with integrating oak; needs 2 years; medium-plus finish 90+ points (100% Tempranillo; French and American oak)

Lovely nose, deep/rich color, ripe dark fruit, well balanced, surprisingly good structure, capable of improving over time, but drinking nicely ... an outstanding value ... we will be on the watch to buy more ...

The slightly aged character is rather obvious already in the color, which is slightly maroon and lacking the opacity of a young Tempranillo. Overall the color is that of dried blood. Lots of presuming animality, toast, leather and barnyard in the nose with hints of ripe prunes, lingonberry jam and vanilla oak joining the forces with a slight delay. A very classic Rioja nose. Rather fullbodied in the mouth with notes of prunes, figs and integrated, layered oak. Despite sweetish impression that the fruit gives, the overall appearance is quite dry and nicely tight-wound with lots of support by fresh acidity and insidiously strong tannins. Wine finishes rather quickly with dry notes of cranberries, spice and vanilla. Overall a very good, though unsurprisingly traditional Rioja Reserva that requires some air after uncorking. Has the potential to get better over the next 4-5 years or so. Definitely worth the 14,98€.

At Vapiano, on Potsdamer Platz, Berlin. No formal note, €7 for a glass. This was delicious with ripe black fruit aromas, vanilla and spice, refined tannins, good weight and denisty of fruit and balancing, fresh acidity on the good length finish.

Double decanted for three hours, served at room temperature. Color: Medium Purple. Nose: Black Cherry, Black Pepper, Blueberry, Green Pepper, Liquorice, Smoke. Palate: see nose. Finish: Medium to Long. Tannins: High but velvety. Alcohol: 13.5 % showing slightly. Medium bodied smooth mouthfeel with seductive dark fruit. Solid mid-palate structure leading seamlessly into a strong spicy finish showing a little heat. Gladly the oak is under control. Excellent pairing with tomato based dishes like lasagne and pasta bolognese. One of the better vintages of this wine I have come across and as always a solid QPR at €15. Drinking well now or cellar for 4-6 years. 89-90 points.

Nice Rioja Reserva. Good balance between fruit and power, with a medium length. Drink now or over next few years.

Hint of Black pepper and cherry. This is a perfectly reasonable Rioja reserva but I expected more from a producer of their calibre

A little less earthy/gamey than 04. Still well balanced, reasonably complex and long and recognisably Rioja. (88 Fair wine)

Not as expressive and outstanding as the 04, but still an excellent value. Have to get a few cases of this one for daily consumption.
