Think the blueberry is ripening a bit on the palate when compared to the last couple of bottles, so I've brought the rating up a point. Didn't decant again and probably should have, because this DOES improve some over the course of a couple of days. Always solid. Textbook example of Aussie/Barossa Shiraz; big, bold, mouth-filling, good length. You get a lot for your money in Australia. 88 pts.

Brought this wine today to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday.
Formidable tannins upon opening and the alcohol wasn't well integrated with the wine. Gave it 30 minutes of breathing and the wine started to perform.
Typical Australian Shiraz on the nose, with the distinctive notes of black pepper. On the palate this wine is smooth and elegant, much like a ride on a carousel; bright and loud, safe and enjoyable, but fairly predictable.

Solid weekday sipper here. I've had better vintages from Lehmann for sure, with the '06 probably the best. Some blueberry and wet asphalt on the nose, and blueberry and spice on the palate. Decent length, very good. 87 pts.

Notes on day 2 as it improved over night. Solid QPR here on this Aussie Shiraz. I get black cherry and chocolate covered espresso beans on the nose. Medium body with intense fruit flavors of blueberry, blackberry and a bit of tart cherry. Tannins had mellowed by day 2.

Purple with magenta edges. Oak, spice, blueberry and leather nose. Medium-plus body, blackberries, baking spices, pepper, prunes, grainy tannins, good acid, a bit of soy, and a medium to long finish. Tight and a bit rustic; it needs plenty of air.

Solid effort from a great Aussie winemaker. A little tighter than some other Lehmann offerings, but still the big blueberry and good balance in the over-the-top Aussie style. As others have stated, this will benefit from decanting, no doubt about it; and perhaps a couple of years in the cellar. Will take better notes next time, still have 4 more (and I'm glad I do!). 88+ pts.

Very nice wine with lots of plum and some chocolate. Oak is well balanced and the overall structure of the wine is good. A huge step up from the basic Peter Lehmann Shiraz.

Please see previous notes. Really have to remember to decant my last two. Often forget that step on the weekday sippers. Always solid. 87 pts.

Not bad but too expensive compared to quality. Fruity, smooth and full but very bland and boring. Has no bite and no character.

No notes at the time, but this needs decanting and will improve considerably with a bit of age. One of the best value Shirazes (sp?) on the planet.
