I had this with an Italian style wrap on 6/27/14. PnP, but it improved with a little air. It had a fresh, fragrant bouquet of lime, green apple, pear and mineral aromas. The palate was crisp, sharp and dry with flavors of lime, green apple and chalky minerals.

Consistent with the previous bottle. Lovely fruit on the nose. Most noticeable was a little sour apple. Palate was dominated by a lovely strong fruity acid, carrying the sour apple theme through the mid palate. A really nice food wine. This time was potato crusted fish fillets and baked potato. I would happily drink more of this one. (Alas this was the last bottle of this in the cellar. )

Smells like an oak-aged Chardonnay past its prime. Flavors of aged Savenierres indeed, as well as of seltzer. High in acidity, but not over the top, probably in part because of the relatively low alcohol (10.5% ABV). Resembling a Vinho Verde, but higher toned, with a lime leitmotiv, and a salty, Alka Seltzer-llike finish. Nice well chilled, or just slightly chilled. Perfect with crisp-fried ono and a mashed potato/kale puree (and a dash of smoky olive oil), and would probably be a perfect schnitzel pairing too. 87-88

Very very very sharp acidity. However this recedes somewhat when I cooled the wine down. The nose is starting to show oxidative characters mixed with the citrus notes.

We had this with Basque style steamed clams on 2/17/13 (an awesome pairing). It had a light, fresh bouquet of lime, quince, pear and mineral aromas. The palate had a strong acidic bite with flavors of lime, lemon, mineral quince and pear.

really interesting! nutty and slightly waxy on the nose, like an older savennieres, bold, broad and a bit of a monolithic (initially) on the palate, but yielding eventually to back-end secondary notes and a pleasant fizz. i've never aged a txakolina but this wine makes me want to give it a try. too bad i only bought one bottle!

I had this with seafood salad on 12/10/12. It had a light, fresh bouquet of lime, quince and mineral aromas. The palate was crisp, tart and dry with high acidity...flavors of lime, pear and chalky minerals…this definitely needs food! 86+

Upon opening, this wine does show almost a bitter flavor with overpowering citrus. With a little time, it calms down but I still felt the acid overpowered the fruit here. Slight bubbles and I think this is a must pair with food wine. I could see this being great with clams.

Lightly spritzy on bottle opening. Light fruit profile with a bit of lemon citrus and a lightly sour tang but overall not a lot going on. Medium acid with a short finish. The wife liked it more than I did. OK light drinker for a warm day but there are definitely better examples and better values.

Nice light dry white wine. Similar to dry riesling. Due to it's adequate acid content it pairs very well with light food and seafood. It went really well with Spanish "Sizzling Garlic Shrimp". It was also pleasant to finish the bottle after the tapas were done. some light floral notes but otherwise nothing really interesting. A very good solid white wine.

Spain and Portugal Potpourri (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Spicy citrus nose. Light. Not much fruit but some minerality on the end saves it from being completely without interest. Reminded me of generic, low end Muscadet and I imagine you could use it for shellfish.

Really brisk acidity. Maybe a bit oxidized?

Extremely crisp, with citrus notes bordering on bitter. Refreshing on a hot day. Pair with things that want acid.

citrus, (thompson's seedless) green grapey sensation, some mineral and body; oddly primary and bland due to a lower acidity than i prefer
