Bitouzet's wines tend to be on the leaner side, so the vintage helps here, I think; blind, no one came particularly close to Volnay. The nose is very much on the red side and the palate has good acidity and a fair amount of sapid fruit on the front palate, though the finish is a bit short. I don't think these will get significantly better, but this was delicious. I think these make very good warm vintage wines, which is something to keep in mind given the temperatures we're seeing at the moment in Burgundy........

Oh dear, these 2009 Bitouzet burgundies seem to be fading into mellow wines, ie they are losing character without gaining much in secondary.
I'm surprised how much development has occurred in the last year or so.
Nice wine, but no longer very exciting. Drink up!

Sappy, oaky nose, but warm and delicious. And that about sums up the wine. I love this style of Burgundy, light but rich and complex.
Drink now until 2025
