Ripe, alcoholic and raiseny. This wine was barely drinkable and may have had storage issues. Also alongside some better wines it showed poorly. Robert Parker inspired wine making with big wood, overripe fruit and hot alcohol. 87 is generous.

Blind Tasting - Battle of the States: Blackcurrant and oak with some kirsch and pencil shavings. Palate has good richness from the fruit, with medium structure keeping it moving. Nice but a little bit boring.

Well made like all of these Colonial Estate wines. I don't really like the flavour profile. Strong tannins, loads of fruit, with a little bit of spice. This didn't really go that well with food and was a bit boring to drink on its own. I respect the style and the fact that it's well made.

Undecanted - 85. But definitely improving with a bit of air - now 90

Unremarkable drinking. It might improve with decanting or alternatively a little age. I have half a dozen and will not be looking for more.
