Made by Gundlach Bundschu Winery. I don't think it's going to get much better, but it's held up nicely and it's drinking well right now. Enjoyed it with spicy home made guacamole and chips. Give it 20-30 in a decanter to open up.

Dark, inky color. Fruity nose of cherries and wood. A little hot on PnP with palate similar to nose, dominated by cherries with some toasty oak. Medium body, medium finish. Drank over several days, vacu-vin'd in between, it developed additional tannins and spice notes each day (and strangely, the oak became less toasty) although it also fell apart after 2 hours in the glass on day 2 so drink soonish.

It's finally coming into its own - has mellowed out, still takes about 20min to breath, however not overbearing anymore. The fruit flavors are subdued and gentler, with some caramel and dark chocolate more prevalent. The finish is nice and consistent, with a hint of date wrapping up.

Good QPR. Nose comes across alcoholic, fruity and hot. Blackberry and cherry with subtle chocolate undertones. Too light on the acidity, finish comes up short, with the alcohol dominating. Even so, it does go well with bigger bolder food choices. Not a sipper though.

Basically echoing what most others of have. A decent enough value, but I don't know that I'd seek it out in the future. Used part of the last bottle for poached pears which came out quite good. The wine reduced to a rich but not too sweet syrup that was good on the pears and will be quite good on ice cream.

Dark color, big fruity nose. Concentrated blackberry and cherry with simple spice notes and subtle chocolate undertones. However, out of balance with acidity lacking and alcohol too upfront.

Nice everyday drinker, took about 30 min to open up. Oak and fruit on the bouquet, similar on the palette, also some cherry and spice, finishes smooth and easy, no heavy tannins

Dark red almost plum color. Explosion of fruit on the nose. Blackberries, dark cherries, hints of spice (pepper or cayenne all on the nose. Nice fruit forward taste and spiciness (without heat). Smooth and delicate, very well balanced wine. This was quite enjoyable with a nice finish on the dryer end of the spectrum. Great QPR.

Great. Big. Wine. Lots of things going on in this bottle. Smoke, leather, sweet dark fruit, some oak, baking spices and even chocolate. Well balanced and smooth. Can't wait to share another bottle with some friends!

I liked it, but I drank this first bottle all by itself, and it seems like this might actually be better WITH food ... beef, or perhaps something with a red sauce, like pasta or pizza.

For $12 I'm not complaining. It has a nifty label, and it is an eminently gulpable CA blend that bests most in this price range. No, it ain't complex, but it is balanced enough that even Old World snobs like me found it tasty. Will be excellent for parties.

I didn't take formal notes, but this is a fruit forward crowd pleaser. not that complex, but definitely good QPR.

High QPR table wine. Comes out fruit forward (berry) but has enough acidity to make it work. Moderately oaked
