45 min decant- medium bodied, average balance, no heat, some spice, near prime. Should be in prime in 1-2 years and hold for another 4-5. Average value

You will not recognize this wine from the time you open it until 2 hours later. The depth and complexity completely changes as well as the palette: from slightly off-putting and thin to pencil lead, blueberry pie and Baileys irish cream. It could be confused with a Syrah for plush mouthfeel, pepper and dark hue.

Pop and poured first glass. Second glass after an hour in the bottle. Lght purpleish color. Lush, complex blackberry and black cherry high degree of extraction but not over the top. Heavy mouthfeel for a pinot. Definitely a cab lover's pinot, good call DSaeedi. One of those wines that puts a smile on your face when you finish your first sip.

An Evening with Donald Patz of Patz & Hall (Lincoln Park Binnys Tasting Room): Now we are seeing more complexity here. The fruit if plenty of black cherry, with a gingerbread and anise spice. Subtle hints of deep refined cinnamon, vanilla and a touch of mint. Good minerality. There is a meatiness to this wine, with a full body and medium plus tannins. Still some delicacy, but this is definitely a cab lover's pinot. Wins points for complexity and good concentration.

A little musty on the nose. Doesn't measure up to a bottle opened one year ago. Corked?

Popped and poured. Initially a little hot, but it toned down after a while and was very good.
