This wine presents with a lovely ruby color, the nose is earthy, flavor is lightly acidic with dark berry notes. Finish is rather short with light tannins.

Smell and taste predominant with black cherry, with a little smokey/spice smell/taste. Caught a hint of dark chocolate in the initial taste. The syrah really comes through in this year's blend.

Cakebread showcased this at their grilling day event. Winery tasting notes say it is bigger and richer than previous vintagea and I agree - and I think it improves the wine. Lots of black cherry and dark fruit with a little spiciness on the nose. Rich dark fruit flavors with plenty of body. They paired this with these great twice fried potatoes and an aioli & romesco sauce - very good. Will hold up to BBQ and spicy foods.

IWFSC May luncheon (Columbia Yacht Club): Very ripe, great color, muted flavor, blackberry, pinot (85%) and Syrah (15%). Great blend, great match for BBQ.
