opened and drunk over different days. Mature red with some brown reflections, first notes of oak, immediately faded away. At the palate clear hints of chocolate cherries, cherry liqueur and ripe plums. Summer 2003 was terribly hot in Italy and maybe this Amarone won't go the long distance. Fashinating but not as seductive as expected. Best paired with Parmigiano Reggiano. Lonely companion of slow evenings while Xmas approaches

Tasted again , last time was Feb 2017. Agree with last tasting, consistently higher acid and less extracted than others. More complex flavors than I remembered, on the nose there are chocolate cherries, cherry liqueur, spearmint and prunes. A bit surprised by the color, fairly rusty, wondering if this will go the distance. Still high acid and medium plus tannins though

Medium bodied and more acid than many amarones - less extracted as well - makes it easier to pair with food than other amarones. Stewed dark fruits, damp earth, less of the raisin-y character typical. Really enjoyed it.

Decanted for 1h at a grant writing meeting with Garth. Smells like cranberries and old armchair leather. Well balanced red berries, cedar, mint, herbs, leather, tannins, and acid. Everything I would expect a mature Amarone should be.

Drinking great! Licorice and tobacco on nose, with a hint of mint and berries. Silky to mouth, long finish. Has an earthiness taste and feel, but does not over power the fruit that is coming through. Some strawberries and currants. Very nice bottle....loving in right now!

ABS - Amarones: Cereja, resina, melaco, terroso, grama cortada. Ataque bem potente, grande acidez inicial, retrogosto maduro e boa a longa persistencia. Estilo classico.

Balanced, lively across the palate, bright, shockingly good amarone. Needs some more time just to shape up the back of the palate. Bright aromatics. Wow, how did them come up with this wine out of Amarone? A "light" style of amarone, certainly not Bussola.

Decanted at 1862 with Garth, the second wine of the night. Consistent with my previous note, this paired well with pan seared foie gras.

Well balanced, good with food. Not overly sweet or raisined. Dark cherries and chocolate. In a good place.

Drinking exceptionally well right now. Everything an Amarone should be! Old world structure, with some bright fruits. Fantastic.

A light fruity wine. Good for the afternoon or lunch time. Little to no bitter or acidic aftertaste.
