Deep red color. Aromas of black cherries, leather, minerals and under-brush. Ripe, full-bodied fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Very balanced for a 2003. Nicely textured and intense on the palate. Perhaps this, my first bottle consumed 11 years after purchase, was "lightening in a bottle," but it was truly an outstanding bottle of Gevrey. Delicious and memorable with my wife's excellent chicken paprikash.

Very good. Nose with roasted fruit. Full bodied but not overextracted. Enough fruit and acidity left to be a good wine for the '03 vintage. With some air it lives up.

Outstanding. Surprised by this one. More masculine than most French pinots. Lots of dark cherry, spiciness, earth, and minerality. Tannins well integrated. Medium bodied. Good structure and balance, very elegant. Drinking really well now. 91-92 pts.

Classy brambly black cherry, red licorice, and dark forest floor notes. Coarser, charcoal-like, grainy tannin and a definite oaky note. A clear resemblance to an Oregon Pinot, but Gevrey masculinity shines through, more in the texture and structure than the elegant nose. Good weight for its level, just falling a bit short in the end.

Similar to the outstanding 5/13/17 bottle and still very fresh at 17 years of age.

Just a touch less complex and long on the palate than the 5/7/17 bottle.

Focus on Burgundy (Mostly) - Blind Tasting (My home - Chicago IL): Blind tasting. Big fruit aromas with some slightly sweet hints. Clearly a 2003 but showing good balance, even if not elegance. Seems slightly closed down, I'd hold to 2009 or later.
