Not particularly deep or rich, but totally satisfying. The nose has some polished boot leather, green bean and tobacco. The palate is mid-weight with vinous sweetness and a nice silky feel. Tannins are all but resolved and there is flavour persistence.

It took nearly overnight to open (with decanting) but ultimately it revealed strawberry tobacco and some citrus. Lots of alcohol Obviously late but remarkably potable. Didn't open in time for dinner but was drinkable by breakfast! Since I don't know its storage history (beyond about 15 years in my cellar) I can't say if it couldn't have been even better But I would not shy from opening up this vintage again.

This is definitely showing its age. Peppery, almost herbal. Still full of power but it’s waning. This is definitely declining and I would drink this up asap

Unfortunately this was showing its age, and really did not live up to expectations. It is a shame as I have a vague memory of a great bottle from about 15 years ago.
I was far more positive about this wine than other tasters. (and so was the group I shared this with). Perhaps it was because it was served blind and therefore people couldn't be swayed that this was from a period before Angelus became as good as it is regarded today. Anyway.... Clear in the glass, Ruby and garnet. A clean nose. Soaked Cork. Quite a lot of sediment. This was just an absolute classic claret. Complex and balanced. It's obviously well beyond its primary fruit phase, but if you like old school bordeaux, this is a decent drop of juice. Shared for my birthday with the gang.

Old, tired and well past its prime, with much more earth, mushroom, tobacco, forest floor and herbal notes than fruit, this should have been drunk up years ago. Light and generally acidic, it's instructive to taste as it really shows you how far the wines of Angelus have come over the years.

Opened it for my best friend's 35th birthday who loves old wines.
- colour: A little bit "milky" when we poured it. A light and very evolved brown-red colour. - nose: tertairy hints all the way - palate: tannins were faded away completely and little acids, but not overwhelming. Tertiary hints mostly and perhaps still a little bit of red fruit noticable.
Glad to have made somebody very happy, but a little bit odd to drink a wine that dates back to the day I was still wearing a diaper...

Drank in St Emilion. Perfect bottle. Bright, full and forward nose of red fruit, coffee, earth and touch of violet. Great freshness on the palate but this seemed one dimensional on the palate and a but narrow. Still impressed how youthful this is.

I tasted this bottle expecting to be disappointed given the fairly negative opinions of the professional reviews from more than a decade ago. I say that I must take issue with their low ratings. Yes, this is past its prime but it is not "falling apart" as I read from one well known professional critic. It is quite good and I say that it still holds together well despite its age. I think that PSirah Tampa's review pretty much nailed my tasting experience as well.

Beautiful brick color. Little fruit as well as tobacco on the nose. The mouth feel was fantastic as there are almost no tannins left - just an incredibly smooth, velvety wine that still has some complexity. Probably a little past the peak but what a treat. Was very fun to drink.

Popped & poured. I was expecting this to be well past it's prime, but with a little air turned out to be very elegant and lovely. It showed a very light & thin color with obvious bricking at the edges, but was much fuller in the mouth. The fruit had faded a bit & the tannins were obviously resolved, but there was enough acid to hold this together. It paired very well with grilled rib eye.
I was very pleased to see that this little old lady was still quite spry!

Ikke all verdens forhåpninger.
Litt underlig. Første sniff i glasset meget lovende. Men etter 1 time i glasset forsvant korkpreget! Flott!
Langt bedre enn Parkers 77 poeng. Øvre 80 i min preferanseverden.

Pronounced nose with char wood, toast, woody, spices, incense. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Declining. Drink up.

Great 1982 vs 1990 Vintage Tasting (Rare-Bordeaux-Weine, Wachtberg (Germany)): Still interesting but way over its peak and too flat. Not much fruit left here.
