A little concerned as the cork showed some seepage but indie decanted this was a gorgeous mature Bordeaux. Plenty of leather and tobacco notes which went well with a grilled ribeye. Excellent.

My last two bottles of 1998 Chateau Canon which I have enjoyed immensely over the past 2 years. Dark, brooding, intense, after 2 hours or so, the wine opens up to display a marvellous complexity. Rich tannins, a long finish, thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately, the wine overpowered the turkey on this occasion, which was poor wine selection on my part, and poor delivery on the part of my wine merchant!

Surprisingly young tasting given that it was a half-bottle. Excellent.
