  • Dinner at Home (Fremont, CA): Pale ruby with moderate bricking; nose is very aromatic and intoxicating, chewy red fruits, cherry, red licorice, lots of spices including cloves, cinnamon, iron type of minerality (not fresh slate/stone minerals), complex; palate is light bodied, cherry fruit on the forefront, tannins provide integrated but structured midpalate, quite masculine, fades towards the end; finish is short. This is surprisingly good, especially on the nose (certainly Grand Cru quality), though the palate is simpler and less remarkable. Drinking very well now with integrated tannins, and I'm not sure more age will benefit it further. 93
Update: 60 minutes in. The nose is very good, but the palate is fairly limited with a slightly hollow midpalate compared to the complexity on the nose. 92-93

  • This bottle was drinking great. Balanced fuit and earth. Great, powerful nose. Long complex finish...the wine of Thanksgiving dinner!

  • A touch of orange in the color. Very nice red fruit with a few green flavors thrown in. A bit of coffe added to the nose and a lovely, long finish. ***1/2
