Despite what 's listed as a suggested drinking window, this wine still has plenty of life left in it--perhaps a few years. It was dark and inky with a slight hint of red around the edges. That said, it was not very impressive and very one-dimensional. Dark and jammy just a touch of smoke on the nose. Notes of dark fruit on the palate, but that's about it. Very boring wine. Alcohol is a bit strong; perhaps another year or so will mellow this a bit. I used to like Ravenswood Zins (haven't had too many since they were bought out), but this isn't my kind of wine.

Thought this would be well past its "drink by" date, but I thought it was great. Big fruit up front, licorice and leather notes, smooth finish. Really liked this one, and would buy it again - if I could find it.

A lot of bang for the buck here. Had one of these Icons at a wine dinner a few years ago and did an "is that all there is" so I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. An obvious new world syrah, with big black fruits and just a touch of Rhone musk, mellowed out nicely after 20 or so minutes. Enough backbone that I think it might have improved for another year or so if i had let it. With salad lyonaise, duck confit/frites, it was very nice. Less so the next day with chicken parm and a ceasar.

A largely unimpressive wine. Not horrible just not remarkable. Fruity as you might expect from a Syrah but tempered with a little old world dry and musty (just a hint) from the Grenache and Mouvedre. I find the nose and body a little thin.

Cali Syrah and a Few Close Friends (Snowgoose): Not necessarily offensive, yet nowhere near enjoyable or pleasant. Very simple, very primary black fruits and very light aromatics, almost non existent. Others liked a little more, but overall the consensus was not impressive.

rich in dark fruit flavors such as berry, black cherry and plum, with a meaty texture, an element of exotic spice and the smoke and vanillin of French oak. Tannins are ample for aging for at least 10 years, but due to its bold, lush fruit and dusting of t

Not bad. I expected it to be dead, but it had some life left, a little fruit, a touch of vanilla from oak.

Cherries/black cherries on the nose and palate. Pleasant and easy drinking. Lacking depth, complexity and finish. No off flavors or flaws.
