Decanted 30 minutes. After concerns over previous bottles, this wine is now coming round to deliver a fine Nebbiolo wine. There remains the faintest of “funk” on the nose, but there’s plenty of fruit and great balance to the wine. Drink now-2021.

Needs at least an hour of air to open up. Starts pretty tight and firm. Red and black cherry, strawberry, earth, a little new leather, red and black licorice, herbs, and some floral elements on the nose. Red cherries, tart cherries, a little plum, earth, and hints of herb, flowers, and aged wood on the palate. Delicious when it hits its sweet spot.

Based on other's notes I expected this one to go down the sink or be saved for cooking but I was extremely surprised. Intense nose of cherry and strawberry with faint floral hints in the background. The palate followed the nose with a medium+ length finish. A very, very good wine that I am glad I opened. This is drinking well and offering a lot of pleasure.

Started out a little corky, but I think it was just a little funk? Needs good airtime, so I splash decanted after being open in bottle for 5hrs...high toned red fruits here...cherry sour tarts, blood orange acid, mouth puckering dry tannins...REALLY dry? The previous 6 bottles of this have had riper fruit? Needs food! Love the dried florals, tilled roses, red licorice in this...classic tar and crushed geology...but MAN this is dry! Suspect bottle here? Hmmm? 83pts on its own, 89 with food. Not as good as previous bottles.

I opened 2 bottles because I couldn't quite believe the first was that bad. The whole wine is completely out of sorts. The nose is tight, unappealing with some meatiness and lots of acid - actually has aroma of burning tyres. The palate is sharp, with strong kirsch & eau de vie and no balance. Also meaty, tough and harsh, green tannins. Not at all appealing. Might need a strong stew - not to eat with it, but to pour into. Maybe the other bottles will show something better.

Decanted 45 mins. Paling to brick red at rim. Medium nose of chocolate, rosewater, kirsch, smoked prosciutto. Palate is rich with firm tannins and plenty of acid bite. Masses of juicy blackberries and ripe, alcoholic black cherries. At the moment needs food to balance it but will develop further. Drink now-2023.

This is number 8 out of a case; sadly, they've all performed pretty much the same - poorly. It's as if there's a blanket of some type on top of the fruit. I mean, it wants to be pretty, but this damn blanket just suffocates the parts that I'm looking for. A muddled table wine that does not appear to have any real future. Some brett is always in the background as if to add insult to injury. I seriously doubt the producer intended for it to show like this; thinking it was a storage/shipping issue at some point between the Langhe and here in CO. 14,5% abv.
A pretty fast turn. Starts oaky, closed. Moves to fruit and some terroir in an hour, but ultimately, VA gets the best of this, and the good notes are short-lived. Blackberries, balsamic glaze, some red floral. Stony red licorice at times, but otherwise, pretty one-note. 14,5% abv, drink now with some air.
Aerated to decanter 1 hour, served non-blind.

It's been nearly a year since I checked in on this, and not very much has changed. Ruby core fading gently to a brick red rim. Initial nose is more like a barrel sample from California or some modernly-styled BDX than Barolo commune. Slight iodine, tomato leaf, balsamico, some candied red and black fruits. At ten minutes in the glass, a little typicity emerges on the nose, so it's time to taste. Very viscous entry moves swiftly to pencil thin tannins that are ripe, but still quite firm. A moderate acidity keeps the flavors dull, simple. Some bitter cranberry distracts. Average persistence, EtOH mostly resolved. By the third glass, aromas and flavors of tar, rose and calcareous earth. An above-average food wine, or at least it proved to be with a plate of homemade pasta, San Marzano sauce and salsicce. 14,5% abv,
PnP, served non-blind at 61F. At less than $30 USD, I can confidently recommend, thru 2022.

After two days open in the cellar this shows classic roses and tar, and while not very defined by Barolo standards, this is a rocking Langhe. Neck and neck with the 08 Vietti Perbacco. The style here is slightly more linear, understated and austere, with potentially more payoffs down the road. Classy. Now and for another 7-8 years. Oxidizes more quickly in cellared open bottle than the 08 Vietti Perbacco.

PnP served non-blind. This wine was all over the place. If I were to view this as a 30 minute play, there were a very nice 5 minutes that exceeded/met expectations, but the remaining 25 minutes were just confused, with characters missing their lines and bumping into each other on stage. 9 bottles left, I hope this one was just an outlier. Nearly full-bodied, with tannins slightly more resolved than I'd expected, the fruit, round, but not overly generous thanks to fresh acids.

This was a fantastic bottle. Almost a Burgundian nose teaming with earthy complexity. On the palate, really sweet red fruit and a bit of tobacco. The finish is long and complex. Really balanced all the way through. Highly recommended.

Loooove me some Voerzio! Of course, young primal fruit right now, a little raisin, but a nice ripeness to age. Dark berry fruit, sweet, yet accompanied by some good dry tannin structure. Great flavors of tar, dried roses, licorice, dusty cherry spice. Med bodied, but loaded with flavor, plush in feel. Some orange acidity, crunchy shale, lovely flowers perfume. Finish is a little clipped and dry....but with food, it flows. Should age into something even better. Great Neb! +pts

Lovely garnet toward ruby color. The nose takes a few minutes to open, but once it does, it delivers well into day number two. Leather, bright cherry, some EToH and notes of cranberry on the nose. Acids and tannins dominate on day one, with the bright red fruits moving to the fore on day number two, when the wine showed much more balance. This will be a long-lived Langhe rosso, I just hope I can keep my hands off of them. Drink thru 2021, 14,5% abv, score: A-

Aerated to decanter 2 hours, returned to bottle, served 2 hours later. Garnet toward ruby, highly reflective. Solid typicity on the nose, save the touch of sour milk that dissipated after the first few minutes. The palate begins with a lot of tart cherry, pomegranate, and (slowly) moves to more elegant layers of bright red fruit and berries. The palate is fresh, but I've already had some better examples of Langhe Nebbiolo from this vintage, so I'm not that impressed. Still, the last glass was the best. I will let these rest for another 18 months or so and hope they fill out some, perhaps gaining some complexity along the way. The selfish part of me just hopes this was a bit of bottle variation and the 11 bottles I have left are all screaming good. Time will tell. Drink thru 2019, 14,5% abv, score: B+

Giuseppe LoCascio with Leonardo LoCascio Selections (Esquin Wine, Seattle): Incredible! Very perfumed - Asian spices, earthy, floral. Very exotic. Silky mouthfeel. Very sexy. Rich with some reduction. Quite concentrated as well.
