  • Still on the young side as the last glass on day 3 is the best of the bottle. Aromas of dark fruit, lavender and herbs. The palate matches with plush dark fruit initially, then some (strong)acid/mineral structure finally rounding out with floral/herbal notes and a hint of earth; medium tannins. Lacks the meaty notes I like to see in syrah but not remotely a fruit bomb and you'd never know it's 15.6%. I only have one bottle left but will try to keep my hands off it until its 10th birthday to see what it does with time.

  • Agree with NY Pete, would never guess the 15%+ ABV on this one. Really nice dark fruit with plums and a bit of oak. Luscious mouthfeel and very delicious.

  • I agree with Pete, this is a nice syrah. Very flavorful yet a restrained style. Aromas of red and dark fruit, spice and potpourri. Plum and blackberry flavors. Plush mouthfeel, some spice on the finish. Medium acid/tannins/finish. Way too easy to drink.

  • a beautifully balanced bottle of wine. perhaps letting it sleep for a year was beneficial.
soft floral bouquet. a little smoke. rich plum.
the palate was alive with plums and dark berries.
did tart cherry just make an appearance on the back end?
would never guess this was 15.6 alc.
imo ... an outstanding bottle of WA syrah

  • I may have opened this wine too soon. Not much on the nose, very dark in color. Palate was hot, and really not much to enjoy but over extracted flabby fruit. Maybe this wine will come around in a few years, but this bottle of wine was kind of a flabby fruit, but then a kick of unbalanced acid and tannin hit but not in an enjoyable way. Hoping for a better experience with the next bottle in a few years.
